Incorrect output problem with simplified-kernel-managed-buffers

The following call to nfd produces incorrect results on branch simplified-kernel-managed-buffers at commit 505f75ca.

bin/nfd -ByteMerging -ByteReplace=0 ../QA/Normalization/NF-source > nfs.nfd

Comparison with correct output shows that nfs.nfd has correct data for the first several segments of the file, but corrupted output thereafter.
